WHO:
Heather Hawthorn Doyle – Heather Hawthorn Doyle has made a name for herself as being a strong story-based director who brings her passion for creating beautiful visuals and grounded performances to every project.
She takes pride in being asked back multiple times by the producers, production companies and broadcasters she works with including with Sinking Ship Entertainment out of Toronto on three different television series “Dino Dana”, “Odd Squad” and “Endlings” and Vancouver based production companies directing movies for Hallmark, HMM. Lifetime and others. Prior to this HHD directed a series of shorts Vancouver for the multi-platform division of the Disney Channel on YouTube based on their series “Gabby Duran & the Unsittables”.
Heather has also directed short form narrative films including the micro short “I Don’t Want Him Either” filmed exclusively in a volume studio and the heartbreaking original film “Songbird” which won the 2020 People’s Choice Award for favourite short at the Vancouver Asian Film Festival.
She began her successful directing career in factual/lifestyle/documentary and multi-camera talk/variety shows having directed on many popular formats for HGTV, W Network and CBC including more than 300 episodes of a multi-camera daily talk/variety show for CTV and “Love it or List it Vancouver” for HGTV.
HHD’s very first narrative series was the multi-camera teen sitcom from Thunderbird Entertainment “Some Assembly Required” for YTV.
Cliff Hokanson
Director of photography and a camera operator with 25+ years of experience based in Vancouver, British Columbia. He has a successful career as a camera/Steadicam operator working in feature films, documentary and television around the word. Working as a Steadicam/Camera operator Cliff had the pleasure of working with great Directors like Tyler Perry and David Leitch and many more. Also, Cliff has learned to film all types of Cinematic looks with the pleasure or working with Rob Mclachlan and Roy Wagner.
Moving on from Steadicam Operating Cliff works as Director of Photography and Camera Operator/Camera Movement Specialist.
Cliff is know for his fast execution of beautiful lighting/creative camera movement and his fun positive set attitude.
Petar Gatsby
Originally from sunny Croatia, Petar grew up and started training the craft in Germany. He lived and worked in Sydney, Australia, Auckland, New Zealand before permanently relocating to Vancouver, BC. Over the years, he’s worked as an Actor, Stunt Actor, Stage Actor, TV Presenter, Drama Teacher, Audition Coach, Stage Manager and Director/Producer. Finding his niche in the busy Vancouver Film and Television Industry early on, he quickly started booking roles and is working tirelessly to expand his range as an actor.
Some of his favourite credits include ARROW (CW Network), THE DETOUR (TBS), PROJECT BLUE BOOK (History Channel), TURNER & HOOCH (Disney +) and THE DAY WE LEFT (Edmonton International Film Festival).
Most recently Petar spent 2 weeks in Osoyoos, B.C. shooting for a Recurring Role on a new TV Series.
In his spare time he likes to take cold plunges and float in dark, salty isolation tanks to enhance his creativity.

WHAT TO EXPECT:
Day 1 – Studio Scene Coaching:
Join us on Saturday for an intensive in-studio session led by Petar Gatsby. In a dynamic group/class setting, you’ll refine your scene work and perfect your craft, preparing for the excitement ahead.
Day 2 – On-Set Experience:
It’s your time to shine! On Sunday, you will step onto a real film set. You’ll be called to hair and makeup, followed by on-set blocking, rehearsing, and ultimately filming your scene under the expert guidance of Heather Hawthorn Doyle. In between takes and camera setups, there will be plenty of time to ask Heather any questions you may have.
Professional Production Quality:
Your performance will be captured with TV movie quality, professional-grade lighting and top-notch sound recording.
Post Production:
Within approximately 14 days post workshop, you’ll receive your professionally edited demo scene.
