HHD started her directing career in multi-camera television directing large scale talk, variety and sports programs including the “Bachelor Canada Men Tell All” specials for CITY TV and 5 seasons of “The Vicki Gabereau Show” for CTV. She then went on to direct multiple series for W Network, Own Canada and OLN and she continues to direct on “Love It or List It Vancouver” for HGTV.

In addition to her work as a director, Heather is a multi-award winning producer and creator having successfully developed, pitched and run more than half a dozen popular factual entertainment and lifestyle televisions series including “Word Travels” for Nat Geo International and “Make Some Noise” winner of the NHK Japan Prize for best youth series in the world, for CBC.

Heather is also a comedy nerd performing improv and writing sketch with her pals every chance she gets.

Her short film MEDIC was nominated for six Leo Awards, where K-R was nominated for screenwriting & direction, and an Award of Merit (Special Mention) for Direction at the Best Short Competition in 2016.

Kelly-Ruth won the prestigious MPPIA Short Film Pitch Award in 2009 and the resulting film, MOVE OUT CLEAN, had its World Premiere at the Whistler Film Festival in Dec 2010, followed by VIFF the following year. It was named by The Shorts Report as Canada’s Best Short Film in 2011, and had previously been shortlisted for the NSA Drama Prize and Hot Shots Shorts Contest.

She has twice been on the winning team for the DGC-BC “Kickstart” Award, and her directing effort, NO ONE KNOWS YOU LIKE YOUR MOTHER, won K-R the 2010 Leo Award for Best Screenwriting in a Short Drama.

Kelly-Ruth was selected as one of five Crazy 8’s winners in 2005, and her film 24/7, had its World Premiere at the Ethics in Entertainment Film Festival in Phoenix, AZ.

Her short film, UNFINISHED, which she directed as faculty at Vancouver Film School, had its World Premiere at the Atlanta International Film Festival.

As a producer, her short films AFTER and ONCE UPON A TIME ON A BEACH both had World Premieres at TIFF, have screened internationally, and have attracted numerous nominations and awards. STILL LIFE WITH SCISSORS was one of three winners of the inaugural CBC “Signature Shorts” contest, and THE WATCHERS enjoyed a successful festival run, received multiple award nominations and wins – including the Audience Choice Award at the Whistler Film Festival. She has produced web video for blue-chip corporate clients, including Wynn Las Vegas and Nintendo, and has been on the producing team or served in post production on television drama and documentary.

Her extensive film experience includes work as a Visual Effects Producer, an Assistant Director, and as the Production Manager on the CBC Life & Times of Umberto Menghi.

Kelly-Ruth has taught at the university level, in colleges and many professional schools, and in a number of specialties, including at the Acting Program at UBC and Script Analysis classes and workshops at numerous venues. She has taught at The Art Institute (producing, marketing & distribution, Working With Actors), Vancouver Film School (Writing Dept: Pitching), and has guest lectured for numerous clients.

Kelly-Ruth has received support through CTV & Creative Women Workshops Association, MPPIA, DGC-BC, BC Arts Council, National Film Board, Women in Film, and the NS Arts Council.

Ms. Mercier remains active in the theatre, having directed the Canadian premiere of Leo Butler’s MADE OF STONE, and Kenneth Lonergan’s LOBBY HERO, which was reviewed in the Georgia Straight as: “(a more) satisfying experience than that of anything currently playing on this town’s bigger, more expensive stages” and that “under Kelly-Ruth Mercier’s direction, the acting in this production is tremendous.”

After a 15 year absence, she returned to the stage in the musicals Cry-Baby: The Musical (2017) and Pageant: The Musical (2018). K-R’s acting resumé is lengthy and is 30 years long. She currently recurs on the 2019 TNT scifi series SNOWPIERCER, and Guest Stars on the Series Finale of iZOMBIE. She has costarred on the Hallmark movies “Love, Once & Always” with Amanda Schull, and with Catherine Bell in “Home For Christmas Day.” She’s appeared opposite Jen Lilley twice: in “A Dash of Love” and “Harvest Love.” She dies in Season Two of DIRK GENTLY’S HOLISTIC DETECTIVE AGENCY on Netflix, and has also recurred as a nurse twice: on A&E’s BATES MOTEL and Bravo’s GIRLFRIENDS GUIDE TO DIVORCE. Other favourites include gueststarring on AMC’s THE KILLING, The Hub Network’s THE HAUNTING HOUR, Showtime’s THE L WORD, CTV’s ROBSON ARMS and COLD SQUAD, and CBC’s BLACK HARBOUR, and appearing in the WB series SMALLVILLE and SUPERNATURAL, ABC’s ONCE UPON A TIME, and a number of features including “A Dog’s Purpose,” Robert Redford’s “The Company You Keep” and several television movies (some faves are “Monsterville” and “In My Dreams”). She has traipsed stages in 9 of Canada’s 10 provinces and has juried for the Gemini Awards (CSA’s), Leo Awards, Women in the Director’s Chair, and Hot Shots Film Contest.

Brent has been a teacher for over Twenty years, starting out at Gastown Actors studio and working extensively with Van Arts.

Brents main goal is to give the actor a good understanding of Objective and how to drive for something in a scene. How to find the “play” in the work.

Most notable TV & Film credits include: Terminal City, Carpool with David Paymer, Unforgettable opposite Ray Liotta, and Tony Shalhoub’s wife on Monk, the Television series.

Stage performances include: Amadeus, Merchant of Venice, Are You Lonesome Tonight, Women in Bed, Night of the Iguana, Little Shop of Horrors, Dark of the Moon, Pal Joey, Funny Thing Happened on the Way to the Forum, The Sunshine Boys, Anne of Green Gables, Kiss Me Kate, and many others.

These performances have taken her from the Cincinnati Playhouse, to the Citadel Theatre, Stratford Festival, Stage West, Charlottetown Festival, and the North Pole. Directing Credits include: Almost Maine, Mental the Musical, Stiff Cuffs, Italian American Reconciliation, Four Dogs and a Bone, Twenty Something, Pizza Man, Farewell Ambrosia, Misconduct and many School Creative and VAS showcases.

Stellina has been a dialogue coach for the past 7 years on ‘Mr. Young’, ’SomeAssembly Required’, 2 sit-coms produced by Thunderbird Productions and has been the acting coaching for Mech X4 season one, produced by Disney and currently being shot in Maple Ridge and Abbostford B.C.

Born in England to a Dutch mother and British father, Cubitt was six months old when his family moved to Vancouver. While attending university, he worked on a cable music video show called Night Vision, performing in comedic wrap-around segments. Cubitt describes this experience as “the beginning of [his] love affair with acting.”David studied general arts at UBC and acting at Studio 58 as well as with Alex Bruhanski, career was kickstarted by Alive, ENG, and then Traders for 3 1/2 seasons (for which he won a Gemini and was nominated twice), after which he had a development deal with CBS with whom David did a number of pilots. Highlights, included Medium for 7 yrs and a couple of projects with Michael Mann.

David Cubitt also starred with Naomi Watts and Oliver Platt in feature film Shut In, was also seen on Showtime’s hit series Ray Donovan.

David was with Jeff Bridges in the the Universal Pictures feature, The Seventh Son. David is most widely known for his role opposite Patricia Arquette in the hit NBC series, Medium.

Prior to Medium, Cubitt starred alongside Tom Sizemore in the CBS / Michael Mann series, Robbery Homicide Division, set in downtown Los Angeles. “Working with Michael [Mann] is as good as it gets, “says Cubitt,” “It’s one of those very fortunate turns in my career.” He first worked with Michael Mann in the critically acclaimed feature Ali, based on the life of boxing legend Muhammad Ali, starring Will Smith and Jon Voight.

Cubitt starred with Colm Feore in the critically acclaimed film, The Perfect Son, which tells the story of two estranged brothers brought together by their father’s death. Cubitt plays a recovering drug addict who must face the revelation that his “perfect” brother is gay and dying of AIDS. His performance earned him a Genie Award nomination, and the John Garfield Award for Best Actor at the Method Fest Film Festival.

Cubitt continued to study acting full time, until he was kick out of
theatre school where he was told he “couldn’t act and would never work.” Soon afterward, Cubitt landed a leading role in the in feature, Alive, starring Ethan Hawke. The film was directed by Frank Marshall, and recounts the story of the Uruguayan rugby team who was stranded in the Andes after a plane crash.

Alive helped spark Cubitt’s career and it wasn’t long before he landed a series regular role on the hit Canadian series Traders, a show about the high-stakes lives of a group of investment bankers. David starred on the show for three and half years, during which time he won the 1997 Gemini Award for Best Performance by an Actor in a Continuing Leading Dramatic Role and the 1998 Gemini Award for Best Dramatic Series.

After landing a development deal with CBS, Cubitt moved to Los Angeles and booked a role in the CBS series Michael Hayes, playing the brother of David Caruso’s title character. Cubitt also had a recurring role on the CBS series That’s Life, starring Heather Paige Kent, Ellen Burstyn and Paul Sorvino.

Additional television credits include a small arc on A&E’s hit series Bates Motel, FOX series The American Embassy, featuring Arija Bareikis, along with several TV movies including the NBC mini-series, 10.5 with Kim Delaney and the CBS’, John Christmas.

Additional film credits include the 2014 comedy feature The Colossal Failure of the Modern Relationship with Enrico Colantoni; Swann, starring Brenda Fricker, about the investigation into the brutal murder of a Canadian poet; I Shot A Man in Vegas, starring John Stockwell and Janeane Garofalo; and the mountain climbing adventure K2.
